Post-Convention Wrap Up and No Classes This Week

Hi everyone. I'm back from the 2012 SU! Convention in Canberra and I'm all inspired and ready to share what we learned! 

My suitcase had an extra little holiday in Sydney and has only just arrived in Cairns so I haven't unpacked yet! I am going through my photos, cropping and reducing the size, ready to upload onto Drop Box. I can't wait to show you the samples SU! had prepared, as well as the swaps the many talented demonstrated shared. With all of this going on and no samples prepared for this week's classes, I'm going to cancel classes for this week. I'll use the time wisely, though, and prepare samples for the upcoming school holiday classes, our classes and organising the mini-retreat.

Regionals 2012

Regionals this year won't be held in Cairns. SU! are trialling a new format with a lot more make and takes so are limiting the "regionals" to capital cities ... and Auckland! The dates haven't been released yet but I'll let you know asap.

Classes This Week 22 May and 25 May

Greetings all. 

It's getting terribly close to Convention time in Canberra - wahoo! Hmm, must get on to doing some swaps! 

This week's class will show you how to make a flip card and a swing card using the new framelit dies in the current mini catalogue. This is a little trickier than it looks ... the framelit shape is only cut to the fold! You'll learn how!  

I've been looking at my favourite website, The Shabby Tea Room, recently - I just love the shabby chic look and the final card is inspired by this look.

ANGRY BIRDS CRAZY

My son, Thomas, is CRAZY about Angry Birds! Here, he has stuck bits of paper to his regular Angry Birds toys to make them into the Space Angry Birds characters. 

SO, I've been getting on board and making some Angry Birds characters using punch art. Tom has been my creative director, bringing in more and more of his toys until we had made so many, we decided to make them in to a scrapbooking page layout. 

WHAT ELSE I'VE BEEN DOING THIS WEEK

I had a request to make a wedding card with a Parisian theme (I just happen to have some things that fit that category!) so came up with this:-

GOING FORTNIGHTLY AND MOVING TUESDAYS

You may have noticed in the calendar dates above 2 major changes for classes following retreat. Firstly, I am going to reduce my classes to fortnightly - I am starting to miss spending Friday nights with my husband! And secondly, I'll be moving the Tuesday daytime classes to Friday - this will reduce the amount of time I'm spending setting up and tidying up for each class. I hope these changes won't affect your ability to come and enjoy our classes together because I still enjoy holding classes and spending time with you all.

The techniques this week are stamping on vellum and using the new super-thin SU! dies. It's a flower card theme this week. 

Tina made me a lovely card for my birthday in January and since then, everybody who comes over has admired it and wanted to make it. So, with Tina's blessing, I bring you "Tina's fabulous hydrangea card with 50 glue dots". 

The second card is a sweet pea flower I've seen on various blogs - this one uses the butterfly punch. Finally, I just love the bunch of flower card inspired by the queen of flower cards, Valita.
